About Me

My name is M. Jafar Rezai. I am an Afghan-Canadian. I was born and lived most of my youth in Kabul. When warlords occupied and destroyed the city my family left Afghanistan. For several years I lived (wandered) in Pakistan, Iran and Azerbaijan. In mid 2002 I arrived in Canada. Canada was a new beginning, a new opportunity to study, and most of all, to “live” in a democracy.

Even though, I left Afghanistan more than a decade ago, but; Afghanistan never left me. Afghanistan as my native land and the hustle and bustle of Old Kabul as a childhood memory always remained with me. It was the love and worries of that tortured and war-torn country which made me to blog about her. On and off, I write about Afghanistan. I have around a hundred essays and semi-essays online, in Farsi (Persian) language.

Almost a year ago I learned Photoshop and discovered the power of playing with pixels. I noticed that for my people, who are, sadly, less accustomed to read, picture is an easy way to talk with. Since then, besides writing, occasionally I do photomontage or composograph to illustrate the gloomy stories of my time. The red tells of a region boiling in rage and revenge of religion, the untold stories of racism-tribalism in a country drowning into corruption, and worst of all, the return of the warlords, who occupied, raped and burned the city to the ground, back to power…

نامم جعفر است.متولد چنداول استم. بیشتر از یک ونیم دهه اول عمرم را در کابل زندگی نمودم. در بهار1375 بامیان رفتم.سه ماه بعد خود مرا در کویته پاکستان یافتم و یک ونیم سال بعد تر ازآن در تهران بودم. هفت ماه بعد طیاره ما برفراز باکو چرخید ونشست. چهار سال را درکنار خزر سپری نمودم و یکسره ترکی گفتم و شنیدم. ساعت چهار شب ماه جون بود که آخر ین چراغهای کم نور "باکو" از پشت کلکین طیاره دیده نمی شد. یک روزبعدتر در شمالی تر ین سرزمین جهان رسیدم. کانادا را سرزمین زمستانهای طولانی و فرصت های بیشمار یافتم. جاییکه شهروندی آن تا حدی زیادی احساس آرامش، اطمینان و فرهیختگی می بخشد. حدودا چهارسال می شود که بخشی از اوقات فراغتم را صرف وبلاگ نویسی می کنم. از یکسال به اینسو علاقه مند هنر دیجیتال شده ام و گاهگاهی کارهای گرافیک و فوتو مونتاژ ارایه می دهم
